Croatia tour - 9 days


Day 1: Zagreb airport - Zagreb
Arrival at Zagreb airport and meet and greet with your troughout English speaking guide/driver. Transfer to hotel in Zagreb. Short orientation walk in the city center. Free time at leisure. Accomodation and overnight in hotel in Zagreb.

Day 2: Zagreb
Breakfast. City sightseeing tour  including main Jelačić square and Ilica street,  Dolac  market with vast choice of food, Cathedral, the Upper Town with St. Marks Square and church, Stone gate, Lotršćak tower and Zrinjevac park. Free afternoon for shopping, museum visits, walks in park Maksimir or Botanical Gardens. We suggest to enjoy evening stroll through popular Tkalčićeva street with numerous cafes and restaurants. Overnight in hotel in Zagreb.

Day 3: Zagreb - Rijeka - Opatija 176 km
Breakfast. Departure from Zagreb. Drive through hilly wooded area of Gorski Kotar often called  “Croatian Switzerland”. Arrival to the Adriatic coast and visit to Rijeka, the biggest Croatian port and the city that was “European capital of culture 2020”. Walk through city center with lively Korzo street, Market , Theatre, City tower, Our Lady of Lourdes church, Adria Palace and renewed sea front. Free time for shopping, enjoying coffee or optional lunch or taking a walk and experiencing the rhytm of busy Adriatic city. We continue with short drive towards Opatija, the birthplace of Croatian tourism and once the favourite resorts of European aristocracy. Accomodation in hotel. Walk along sea promenade Lungomare, beautiful park with Villa Angiolina, old grand hotels, luxurious villas and gardens.  Enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere and find a nice restaurant or old fashioned coffee house to relax. Overnight in hotel in Opatija.

Day 4: Opatija - Istria Tour (Poreč - Rovinj - Pula) - Opatija  250 km
Breakfast. On  full day tour around Istrian peninsula you will get to know the most important coastal towns of largest Croatian peninsula. Charming combination of small rural inland villages, red soil, vineyards and woods, rugged coastline and sea resorts where you can feel Venetian influence in historical architecture  make Istria one of the most popular Croatian tourist regions. We start our tour driving through inland of the peninsula to the Western coast and the city of Poreč. Walk through the old town with cobbled streets and visit the world famous Basilica Euphrasiana with magnificent Byzantine mosaics. Visit to Rovinj, another jewel of the western Istrian coast. Walk through the labyrinth of old narrow streets filled with galleries and artists will bring you to the top of the Old town with St. Euphemia church and amazing view to the Old City and Rovinj Islands. Free time for optional lunch. We continue towards south to Pula, the biggest Istrian town where we shall stop in front of famous Roman Amphiteatre and take a walk through historical center rich with Roman monuments. Return to hotel in Opatija. Overnight in hotel in Opatija.

Day 5: Opatija  - Plitvice Lakes National Park - Zadar 315 km
Breakfast. Departure from Opatija. Visit to the world famous Plitvice Lakes National Park with natural system of spectacular cascades and  16 lakes, with the possibility to walk on wooden paths around lakes, and enjoy the boat ride. Free time for optional lunch. We continue the drive towards Adriatic coast. Arrival in Zadar, historic Dalmatian city  whose port is protected by numerous islands. City tour will show you the most important monuments of this once fortified city including St. Stošija cathedral, St. Krševan church, Roman forum, St. Donat church, the main Square and Kalelarga street, Town hall and the the recent famous art  installations at the sea front: Salute to the sun and Sea Organ, sound art object. Accomodation and overnight in hotel in Zadar.

Day 6: Zadar - Šibenik - Trogir - Split 162 km
Breakfast. We continue our tour towards Šibenik,one of the oldest Croatian coastal towns. We shall visit the historical town centre with St. Jacobs Cathedral, Main Old Town Square, The Four Wells Square, Town hall and Bishops Palace. Free time for short stroll or enjoying the break at leisure. The tour is continued towards the ancient city of Trogir whose origins are in ancient Greek times.  The historical centre of Trogir lies on a small island connected to the mainland with stone bridge. We shall visit the historical city centre with famous Cathedral with Radovan Portal, Ćipiko Palace, Princes Palace and Kamerlengo Fortress. Drive  continues to Split,  significant Mediterranean port and tourist centre. Accomodation and overnight in hotel in Split.

Day 7: Split  -Dubrovnik 229 km
Breakfast.  The city tour of Split, once old Roman town with famous Diocletians palace. The important monuments also include the Cathedral of St.Duje, Peristil, main square, Golden gate and statue of bishop Grgur Ninski. Free time for optional lunch, shopping or enjoy the stroll along seaside promenade Riva. Departure for Dubrovnik. The route will take us above the long stretch of Adriatic coast where you will be able to enjoy memorable scenery of southern Croatian landscapes. We shall stop en route for refreshments. Arrival to Dubrovnik area. Accomodation and overnight in hotel in Dubrovnik.

Day 8: Dubrovnik
Breakfast.  Visit to Dubrovnik Old Town, one of the most famous Croatian historical cities and the site of Dubrovnik Republic. Walking tour with Pile Gates, Stradun Old Town street, Onofrius Fountain, Cathedral, Rectors Palace, Revelin fortress and Old port. There is a possibilty to take a stroll along Old Town walls, follow the path of Game of Thrones through the town, have  optional lunch or coffee, visit some of the museums, have a swim and enjoy spending some time on the beach or take a boat trip to nearby island of Lokrum. Overnight in hotel in Dubrovnik.

Day 9: Dubrovnik - Dubrovnik airport
Breakfast in hotel and free time for leisure. When the time comes, depending on the flight schedule, departure towards Dubrovnik airport where the tour ends and we say farewell.

What is included: 9 days/ 8 nights tour with experienced English speaking driver/guide,  transfers from/to the airport of arrival and departure, transport on a tour, accommodation in 3/4* hotels in twin/double rooms  (single rooms possible at supplement), breakfast in hotels.
