Balkan six countries tour - 11 days


Day 1: Thessaloniki airport - Thessaloniki
Arrival at Thessaloniki airport. Meet and greet with your English speaking throughout driver/guide and start with sightseeing tour of Thessaloniki. We will see the White Tower, Rotunda, St Demetrious Church, St, Vlatadon Monastery with the beautiful panorama of the city and Aristoteles Square. Free time for leisure and shopping. Accommodation and overnight in hotel in Thessaloniki

Day 2: Thessaloniki - Edessa waterfalls - Bitola - Ohrid Lake 290 km
Breakfast. Departure for Northern Macedonia. On the way we’ll make a stop in Greece  at Edessa waterfalls for rest and refreshments. Continue to Northern Macedonia and Bitola. Upon arrival possibility for lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards we start with sightseeing walking tour of Bitola, the ”city of consuls”. We will see the main city square, the Clock Tower, Ishak Bey Mosque, Yeni Mosque, the statue of Filip II, pedestrian street “Sirok Sokak”. After the tour we proceed to Ohrid. Upon arrival  accommodation  and overnight in hotel on Ohrid Lake.

Day 3:  Ohrid Lake - St.Naum - Berat 185 km
Breakfast. We drive to the amazing St. Naum Monastery complex, consisting of the monastery and the magnificent Drim River springs. Firstly we shall visit the monastery and learn about the legends of its founder and admire the heaven like beauty of the place. Then we take a ride with small boats on the springs and drink the crystal clear water. After the visit we head back to Ohrid. We arrive in time for optional lunch in a local restaurant. Ohrid and Lake Ohrid are Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. After lunch we do a sightseeing tour of Ohrid and the old city with authentic houses, St. Sofia Church, the ancient theatre, the Samuel fortress, Plaosnik archeological site and Kaneo church with the marvelous view of the lake. Free time for shopping. Then we continue to Albania.  Accommodation and overnight in hotel in Berat.

Day 4:  Berat - Dürres - Budva 285 km
Breakfast. We start the day  with the sightseeing of UNESCO protected town of Berat. We will see the towns citadel which is a very unique castle where about 50 families are still living today. After the tour we continue up to Dürres where there will be the possibility for optional lunch  in a local restaurant. After lunch we shall do a short walking tour of the city and then we continue to Montenegro and Budva. On our way we make a photo stop at the famous St. Stefan peninsula. Accomodation and overnight in hotel in Budva.

Day 5:  Budva - Kotor - Dubrovnik 118 km
Breakfast. We start with the sightseeing tour of Budva - the old Mediterranean port, surrounded by impressive city walls. Start with sightseeing of the city with its Venetian influenced remains that are dominant among the architectural influences. Afterwards we will visit the Bay of Kotor, one of the most protected parts of the Adriatic Sea, which is called the southern-most fjord in Europe. There we shall visit old town of Kotor with even more impressive walls. During the tour possibility to enjoy optional lunch in a local restaurant. Proceed to Croatia afterwards. Accomodation and overnight in hotel in Dubrovnik.

Day 6:  Dubrovnik - Počitelj - Blagaj 148 km
Breakfast. This morning we shall enjoy a walking sightseeing tour of the famous Dubrovnik Old town. During walking we will see the Franciscan Monastery with Europe’s third oldest pharmacy, the Rector’s Palace, the Cathedral and Onofrio Fountain. After the tour time for optional lunch in a local restaurant. Then we proceed to Počitelj, a small town in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the left bank of river Neretva. Experience the preserved unique oriental architecture. Our final stop for today is the town of Blagaj. Upon arrival in this pictoresque town, situated by River Buna accommodation and overnight in hotel in Blagaj.

Day 7:  Blagaj - Mostar - Sarajevo 143 km
Breakfast. Morning walk to see the Blagaj tekke and the River Babuna Springs, coming out from the cave. Then, we continue our way towards Mostar. This city with fascinating history, beautiful architecture and natural setting in the valley of river Neretva will leave you speechless. Start with sightseeing and visit the Old bridge (UNESCO World heritage), Bey’s Mosque and the Oriental bazaar. Continue to Sarajevo afterwards. On the way we will stop at Jablanica to enjoy  optional lamb barbeque in a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Sarajevo we will visit the Baščarsija (the old town) with its cobbled streets filled with numerous Mosques and oriental shops. During the tour we’ll visit the Latin Bridge where the assassination of Franz Ferdinand took place, the Morica Han which is the only preserved inn in Sarajevo built in 1551, and Town Hall for the Austro-Hungarian era. Accommodation and  overnight in hotel in Sarajevo.

Day 8: Sarajevo - Jajce - Travnik - Sarajevo 315 km
Breakfast. Full day excursion to visit Bosnian cities of Jajce and Travnik. We drive first to Jajce town on the confluence of the rivers  Pliva and Vrbas. After that we will go to see the beautiful Pliva waterfalls. Then we proceed to Travnik where, upon our arrival, there is possibility for optional lunch  in a local restaurant.  Travnik, historically, was the capital city of the governors of Bosnia from 1699 to 1850, or the city of Viziers. The river Lašva passes through the city.  We will see the Old Town Fortress, Plava Voda and the Ornamented Mosque. Afterwards we come back to our hotel in Sarajevo. Overnight in hotel in Sarajevo.

Day 9: Sarajevo - Split 235 km
Breakfast.  In the morning, before we head back towards the Adriatic Sea, we will make a brief stop in Vrelo Bosne natural park and a place of the springs of River Bosna. There we shall  enjoy the beautiful green environment and calm atmosphere while we stretch our feet and sit for a coffee. Afterwards we continue to Split. On the way to Split  there is possibility for optional lunch while travelling. Upon arrival in Split, sightseeing tour of the old city and the Diocletian Palace, an UNESCO protected marvel of humanity. After the tour accommodation in hotel. Free time at leisure. Overnight in hotel in Split.

Day 10: Split - Plitvice Lakes - Zagreb 392 km
Breakfast. We shall proceed towards the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. On the way we make a stop at the extraordinary natural treasure, the National Park Plitvice Lakes (UNESCO protected). Sightseeing tour of the lakes and cascades filled with admiration for the wonders of nature. Time for optional  lunch in Plitvice. After lunch we continue to Zagreb. Upon arrival sightseeing tour of the city. We will see the Ban Jelacic Square, St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Church, Medvescak - Gornji Grad, Museum of Broken Relationships, and Croatian National Theatre. Accommodation and overnight in hotel in Zagreb.

Day 11: Zagreb - Zagreb airport
Breakfast in hotel and free time for leisure or shopping. When the time comes, depending on the flight schedule, departure towards the Zagreb airport where the tour ends and we say farewell.

Please note: This tour can also  be arranged starting from Zagreb and finishing in Thessaloniki!
