Balkan five countries tour - 10 days


Day 1: Skopje airport - Skopje
Arrival at the Skopje airport and meet and greet with your troughout English speaking guide/driver. Transfer to the city center of Skopje where we will start our panoramic tour with the famous Kale fortress. Afterwards we will visit the famous Old Bazaar, which is the second biggest Bazaar in the world, after the Kapali Bazaar in Istanbul. While walking in the Bazaar we will see the Mustafa Pasha Mosque, The Cifte Hammam, Sulu Han, Kursumlu Han and Kapan Han. Then we will take walk on the Old Stone Bridge that is dividing the Old and New part of the town. We will see the Archeological Museum, the city Square, the Alexander the Great monument, the Tzar Samuel monument and the Mother Theresa monument. We will end our tour at the Old Railway Station. After the end of our tour, we will head towards our hotel. Accommodation and  overnight in hotel in Skopje.

Day 2: Skopje - Ohrid  lake 180 km
Breakfast. Departure for Ohrid lake. Upon arrival free time for lunch. We start with the sightseeing of Ohrid. We will see the old Plane Tree, the old city with authentic houses, the sculptures of St. Cilrilius and Methodius, the St. Sofia Church, the ancient theatre, the promenade and the harbour. Free time for shopping in Ohrid where you can buy the world famous pearls. Accommodation and overnight in hotel on Ohrid Lake.
Day 3: Ohrid Lake  - St. Naum - Tirana 170 km
Breakfast. Drive to the amazing St. Naum. We will first visit the St. Naum monastery where we will enjoy the natural beauty of River Drim Springs with a small boats ride on the springs. We then proceed to Tirana. On the way we stop for optional lunch in local restaurant in Elbasan. After lunch we continue our way towards Albanian capital. Arrival and start with sightseeing of Tirana during which we will see the Skenderbeg Square, the statue of Skenderbeg, Ethem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the Opera House, the History Museum etc. Accommodation and overnight in hotel in Tirana.

Day 4: Tirana - Budva 180 km
Breakfast. Departure towards Montenegro. On the way to Budva  we will make a short photo stop at the famous St. Stefan Island which is a famous vacation spot for the rich and famous people around the world. Arrival in Budva.  Possibilty of optional lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch start with the sightseeing tour of the city and the old Mediterranean port, surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Venetian republic during their four century rule of the city. Sightseeing of the city with the Venetian influenced remains that are dominant among the architectural influences. Accommodation, and overnight in hotel in Budva.

Day 5: Budva - Kotor - Dubrovnik  118 km
Breakfast.  We proceed to Kotor and visit the Bay of Kotor,  one of the most  beautiful parts of the Adriatic Sea, which is called the southern-most fjord in Europe. We will see the old town of Kotor surrounded by walls, the old palaces, the cathedral St. Triphun, the squares of flour, of weapons… Free time for lunch in a local restaurant. We proceed to Croatia and Dubrovnik. Upon arrival sightseeing of Dubrovnik. During walking through the old town we will see the Franciscan Monastery with Europe’s third oldest pharmacy, the Rector’s Palace, the Cathedral and the Onofrio Fountain. After the tour free time for shopping. Accommodation in hotel and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 6: Dubrovnik - Počitelj - Kravice Waterfall - Blagaj  177 km
Breakfast. We proceed to Pocitelj, a small town in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the left bank of river Neretva, build all of stone. We will see the castle and the beautiful view from there. Experience the unique architecture of the town that was an administrative centre of governance for the region. Transfer to Kravice waterfalls and enjoy the natural beauty. Optional lunch in a local restaurant. We continue to Blagaj. Arrival in Blagaj and enjoy walk by the river Buna and witness the springs of the river Buna that come out from a cave.  Accommodation and overnight in a hotel in Blagaj. 

Day 7:  Blagaj - Mostar - Sarajevo 143 km
Breakfast. We continue drive to Mostar. The city with fascinating history, beautiful architecture and natural setting in the valley of Neretva River. Start with sightseeing. Visit of the Old bridge (UNESCO World heritage), Bey’s Mosque and the Oriental bazaar. After Mostar visit we continue towards Sarajevo.  On the way we’ shall stop at Jablanica where there is an optional possinility to enjoy lamb barbeque in local restaurant. Upon arrival in Sarajevo we will visit Baščarsija, the old town with cobbled streets, numerous Mosques and oriental shops, the Latin Bridge where assassination of Franz Ferdinand took place, Morica Han, the only preserved style inn in Sarajevo built in 1551, the Vijecnica and the Town Hall from the Austro-Hungarian era. After the tour accommodation and overnight  in hotel in Sarajevo.

Day 8:  Sarajevo - Vrelo Bosne springs - Split  235 km
Breakfast. Visit to the Vrelo Bosne natural park and place where the springs of river Bosna are located. Here we shall enjoy the beautiful natural environment. Afterwards we continue to Croatia and  Split. Possible optional lunch stop while travelling. Arrival in Split and sightseeing tour of the old city and the magnificent Diocletian Palace (UNESCO) filled with charming clobbed streets and beautiful roman architecture.  After the tour accomodation and overnight in hotel in Split.

Day 9: Split - Plitvice Lakes  -Zagreb 392 km
Breakfast. We proceed with drive to Zagreb. On the way we drive to the National Park Plitvice Lakes (UNESCO protected). Sightseeing tour of the lakes, cascades and enjoying the wonders of nature. Free time for optional lunch in a local restaurant. We continue to Zagreb. Upon arrival sightseeing tour of the city. We will see the Ban Jelačić Square, St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Church, Medvescak - Gornji Grad, Museum of Broken Relationships, and Croatian National Theatre. Accommodation, and overnight in hotel in Zagreb.

Day 10: Zagreb - Zagreb airport
Breakfast in hotel and free time for leisure or shopping. When the time comes, depending on the flight schedule, departure towards the Zagreb airport where the tour ends and we say farewell.

Please note: This tour can also be arranged starting from Zagreb and finishing in Skopje!

What is included: 10 days/9 nights tour with experienced English speaking driver/guide, transfers from/to the airport of arrival and departure, transport on a tour, accommodation in 3/4* hotels in twin/double rooms (single rooms possible at supplement), breakfast in hotels.
